How Kids Against Hunger Begankkkkk
Kids Against Hunger was founded in March 1999 by Richard Proudfit, a successful entrepreneur from St Paul, MN. In 1974 Richard volunteered on a medical mission to Honduras after Hurricane Fifi had ravaged that country. Profoundly affected by the starvation he saw among the children there, he made a decision to commit his life and financial resources to solving the enormous problem of world hunger. His life's work became clear to him – to feed these starving children.
Richard Proudfit enlisted leading executives at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills, and Archer Daniels Midland to formulate a food that would meet all the nutritional requirements of severely malnourished children for physical growth and mental development. The result was the creation of a balanced, high nutrition food that can reverse the starvation process, and restore a child's health and mental alertness.
The Kids Against Hunger of Central Indiana satellite was started in 2007 by Carmel residents Dan & Nancy Hintz.

As part of the Associates in Action program, employees from the Kohl’s store in Westfield, IN have been participating in KAHCI packaging events since March of 2009 at the Red Cross in Noblesville. Kohl’s believes in giving back to the communities they serve, not just with money and resources but also with time and talent. When a minimum of five associates from one store volunteer for three consecutive hours with a qualifying nonprofit organization, Associates can help the nonprofit earn a $500 grant each month.

Captain of the Kohl’s group Sara Guest says, “I personally volunteer every month because I feel it is a very worthwhile cause. We feel our corporate money is truly helping kids both here and around the world. Any volunteers that have volunteered with us all feel the same way – that one person truly can make a difference. We do a lot of different events through our store but this is the only one we do consistently every month. It is one of my pet causes.”
Thank You Kohl's!!
